The new InformaGiovani in the City of Turinlocated in the Baroque cloisters of the Cappella dei Mercanti, which date back to the second half of the 600s, requested the refurbishment of spaces and new furnishings.
Theinstallation designed by Izmade in collaboration with the Youth Policy Service, provided furnishings instrumental in welcoming young people as well as in displaying information materials. This public service consists in the provision of material that can be freely consulted on shelves, in offering dialogue with operators, on the internet or during private consultancy meetings. The furnishings designed and made by Izmade are tables, bookcases, lecterns and chairs. The materials used are local poplar plywood e splints from re-used shutters.
These materials were the recovered waste of a process triggered by environmental policies and incentives on restructuring, that led to the replacement of windows and roller shutters which were once painted. The recovery of the strips, each with different textures and colours, characterized the furnishings.
The space thus created, intends to make young users aware of the issues of the environmental sustainability through sound interior design practices.
